Chhattisgarh churches tell non-Christians to ‘enter at own risk’ after anti-conversion law
Over 10 churches in Dhamtari, Chhattisgarh, have put up boards saying worship is for Christians only and others enter at their own risk. The move follows the state's Freedom of Religion Act, 2026, notified in August, which punishes conversion by force, fraud, inducement or marriage with up to life imprisonment. The district Christian forum called the boards a precaution against false accusations. Pastors report threats; over 1,000 worshippers have filed self-declarations of voluntary attendance.
Hindu nationalist groups targeted Christians in 60 incidents in West Bengal since BJP took power, report says
India Hate Lab recorded at least 60 incidents against Christians in 13 West Bengal districts from 13 May to 20 September, after the BJP first took power there. Of these, 52 were raids on prayer meetings, homes and churches; eight involved assault, mob violence or vandalism. The report named the VHP, Bajrang Dal and Hindu Jagaran Manch as frequent participants, said police often detained Christians, not attackers, and noted raids were filmed and posted online. No official response was reported.
Hope for Europe gathering opens in Albania with call to hope in uncertain times
Hope for Europe 2026, a five-day gathering of evangelical leaders, opened in Albania on Monday evening. The European Evangelical Alliance is running it through Friday, 9 October, under the theme "Hope in Uncertain Times." About 250 Christian leaders from across Europe are attending.
